As you may know, confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) are being reported in communities across the US.
At Wushu Central, the safety and wellness of our students, families, and employees are our first priority. We are continuing to monitor the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID‐19) and are keeping an eye on the official information including guidance published by the Centers for Disease Control, World Health Organization, and the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department. We will continue to seek guidance from these agencies and public health officials and should emergency directions be issued, we will take appropriate action as directed by government officials. This could possibly include a temporary hold on classes if recommended by the CDC or SCCPHD, although we hope that this does not become the case.
Please know we are taking proactive, preventative measures to protect against exposure to the virus in our facility. Regular health and hygiene practices provide the best defense against the spread of most contagious illnesses.
In addition to the regular and thorough cleaning of all work surfaces, our team will perform extra duty tasks where common hand contact occurs during operating hours, especially between classes such as wiping down and disinfecting doorknobs, handles, faucets, and toilet operating arm, as well as commonly used equipment such as target pads and blockers.
COVID‐19 is associated with such symptoms as fever, cough, and shortness of breath. The CDC recommends these proven steps to help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the restroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
- We will take the advice the NBA has offered their players: fist bumps are cool when greeting each other, but for optimal safety no more hi-fives or hugs at this time.
We understand the concern that many people feel regarding the possible spread of COVID‐19 and wish to reassure our community that we are committed to maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment. We will continue to monitor developments throughout this situation and pledge to keep you informed of any new developments regarding COVID‐19 that could impact the health of our students, families, and employees.
Kind Regards,
Sifu Chang
